Dear readers, dear colleagues,

I hope this newsletter finds you well and healthy.

In this edition, we wish to draw your attention to ENLIGHT, a network of nine research-intensive universities, of which the University of Göttingen is part of. Within the next three years, ENLIGHT intends to develop a model for Europe with global impact. With joint forces and cooperation between students, researchers and members of the local community, ENLIGHT wants to combat some of the most pressing themes: Climate Change, Health and Well-Being, Inequalities, Digital Revolution, Energy and Circularity.

While COVID-19 continues dominating lives around the world, our University staff, students and alumni alike continuously come up with new solutions for the challenges we face. Read about the Association of Chinese Alumni of the University of Göttingen, which collected over 19,000 EUR to purchase protective clothing for the University Medical Center (UMG). Find out also how Göttingen students offer helping hands to those students who just arrived in Göttingen from abroad and are looking for support during quarantine or self-isolation.

We congratulate various students and researchers of the University of Göttingen on their success with their research papers, receiving scholarships, grants and winning competitions.

Last but not least, inspiring times are ahead. One example of that is the upcoming Latin America information week Vamos! taking place 9-13 November 2020. During the week, Göttingen University students will have the opportunity to meet virtually with our colleagues from universities in Latin America and there is a full programme of activities – coming up on our website soon!

All the best,
