Featured Programme: SUFONAMA (M.Sc.) – Faculty of Forest Sciences

The Erasmus Mundus Joint Master’s programme in “Sustainable Forest and Nature Management”(SUFONAMA) is a two-year world-class integrated programme aimed at qualifying graduates for dealing with the enormous challenges in sustainable management of natural resources, namely the challenge of management of forests and nature areas.

The programme strives to instil in students:

  • a firm theoretical foundation
  • the ability to function on the international scene, and openness to foreign cultures
  • all competencies needed for working as a researcher or in forest practices, e.g. development agencies, consultancies, NGOs, international organisations, ministries, governmental agencies, or district forest offices.

The programme structure enables the students to experience top-level and up-to-date teaching at two different European partners of the consortium.

The SUFONAMA Consortium
The SUFONAMA MSc Course is organised by a Consortium which includes five European universities in Copenhagen (Denmark), Bangor (Wales), Alnarp (Sweden), Padova (Italy) and Göttingen (Germany) within the field of forest and nature management. The five universities all have significant experience in research-based teaching on forest and nature management. The University of Göttingen offers specialisation in the topic “Forest and Nature Management in a Changing Climate”.

Erasmus+: Erasmus Mundus Programme
SUFONAMA is part of the Erasmus+: Erasmus Mundus Programme initiated by the European Union. The Erasmus+: Erasmus Mundus Programme is a co-operation and mobility programme in the field of higher education that aims to enhance the quality of European higher education and promote intercultural understanding.
