Three Minute Thesis Competition

On Wednesday, 13th February 2019 the University of Göttingen hosted the Coimbra Group Three Minute Thesis Competition for the second time! In this competition, 10 doctoral candidates of different disciplines presented their doctoral thesis in only three minutes by using only one PowerPoint slide.

The Three Minute Thesis Competition is internationally renowned and conducted by a large number of international universities. In 2008, the competition was first held at the University of Queensland, Australia, and is a registered trademark for regular contests since then. The Coimbra Group adopted the idea of the Three Minute Thesis Competition and called for applications. As a member of the Coimbra Group, the University of Göttingen took part in the competition this year. The winner of the competition is Sandra Schmidt, who is working in the research field of cell biology, protein quality control. Her presentation “How do our cells recycle?” was sent to the Coimbra Group office in Brussels. The Coimbra Doctoral Studies Working Group will select three finalists who will compete in a live competition at the Annual Conference of the Coimbra Group in Krakow at the beginning of June this year.
