Three Marie Sklodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellowships awarded to the University of Göttingen
The University of Göttingen was awarded three grants in the first call 2021 of the Horizon Europe Marie Sklodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellowships, with a total funding of € 500,000. A complete success, since the MSCA Fellowships only support the best and most promising scientists in Europe.
- European Fellowship: Dr. Y. Gurdal Durgun (Turkey)
Hydrogen Storage in Electric Field Responsive Metal Organic Frameworks Studied by Machine Learning Potentials
Coordinator: Prof. J. Behler, Institute of Physical Chemistry
Dr. Gurdal Durgun will research the potential of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) for gas, in particular hydrogen storage applications by combining machine learning (ML) and molecular modeling methods thereby advancing the development and facilitating the widespread use of hydrogen energy in transportation, stationary, and portable applications.
- European Fellowship: Dr. J. I. Gallea (Italy)
Supramolecular organization and dynamics of presynaptic proteins
Coordinator: Prof. J. Enderlein, Third Institute of Physics – Biophysics
Dr. Gallea will study the three-dimensional supramolecular structures of the presynaptic proteins and the structural dynamics during synaptic vesicle exocytosis (synaptic transmission) thereby enhancing our understanding how synapses and ultimately the brain work.
- European Fellowship: Dr. I. Vinograd (Germany)
Transmission Electron Microscopy Studies of Charge-Density Waves in YBa2Cu3Oy and ErTe3
Coordinator: Prof. C. Ropers, IV. Physical Institute
Dr. Vinograd will pursue a novel approach to study charge-density waves (CDW) and their competition with superconductivity down to the atomic scale using Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) and ultrafast TEM (UTEM) at cryogenic temperatures in the cuprate YBa2Cu3Oy thereby identifying ways towards better superconductors.
Postdoctoral Fellowships support researchers of any nationality to develop their skills for their future career by conducting a personalised research project. Postdoctoral Fellowships promote international, interdisciplinary and inter-sectoral mobility. Researchers from all disciplines thus have the opportunity to gain experience in other disciplines and in the non-academic sector. Research projects can be realised within and outside of Europe:
- European Postdoctoral Fellowships: Mobility within/to Europe
- Global Postdoctoral Fellowships: Mobility outside Europe, a 12-month return phase to Europe is mandatory
