European University Alliance ENLIGHT: First Call for Applications
In July 2020, the newly founded ENLIGHT network was selected for the second call of „European Universities“, the European Commission’s pilot programme for new multilateral networks. In the next three years, ENLIGHT will receive start-up funding of €5 million to foster innovation in education and research.
ENLIGHT consists of nine comprehensive, research-intensive and well-renowned universities from nine European countries. In addition to the University of Göttingen, its members include the partner Universities of Basque Country, Bordeaux, Bratislava, Galway, Ghent, Groningen, Tartu and Uppsala. The ENLIGHT consortium’s aim is to promote equitable quality of life, sustainability and global engagement through the transformation of higher education.
At the end of November 2020, it was announced that the University of Göttingen will receive additional funding by the DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) to strengthen the activities of the ENLIGHT consortium. In order to distribute those additional funds, about €350,000 will be made available to internal calls at the University of Göttingen. The first call will be published on 18 December 2020.
