Göttingen International Short Term Programmes Strengthen Cooperation with Strategic Partners
In order to strengthen the cooperation with strategic partners in the US, in the European U4 network and in the German-Japanese network HeKKSaGOn, the University of Göttingen initiated a new series of summer schools. The “International Short Term Programmes Göttingen” offer academic short-term courses for international students and students from Göttingen during semester breaks. The intensive full-time courses deliver stimulating and innovative learning and provide the opportunity to gain international experience without missing lectures at home. In addition, students from the University of Göttingen benefit from the programmes by working closely together with international students and teachers.
In 2017, three summer schools took place. The two-week programmes addressed the topics “Globalization and Diversity” (Organisers: Prof. Dr. Sabine Grenz, Dr. Astrid Biele Mefebue), “Data Science” (Prof. Dr. Ramin Yahyapour, Dr. Jens Dierkes, Timo Gnadt) and ”Historical Linguistics” (Prof. Dr. Anke Holler, Prof. Dr. Marco Coniglio, Prof. Dr. Guido Mensching) and took place between June and August 2017. The Schools were complemented by workshops on “Change of Perspective” as well as “Coaching”, realised in cooperation with ZESS.
In 2018, the International Short Term Programmes Göttingen will be carried on. Winter School “Inherited Inequality and the Formation of the Modern World” (Prof. Dr. Rupa Viswanath, Dr. Nathaniel Roberts) will take place in January 2018 and will be followed by the Summer Schools on “Globalization and Diversity”, “Data Science” and a Linguistic School on “Form-meaning mismatches”.
