Virtual Student Orientation for International Students
For the third semester in a row the Coronavirus pandemic has made it impossible to welcome our new students on site. Digital presentations can convey information well, but the International Office wanted to give the University a face and to greet our new students with more personal words of welcome and guidance. We are therefore pleased to announce that we held a ‚virtual orientation’ for the summer semester: identical events in German (30.03.) and English (31.03.) provided general information on the organization of studies as well as on living in Göttingen. Workshops from the Intercultural Writing and LearningLab rounded off the program.
In addition to the virtual orientation, the International Office continues to manage and update the website introduced for the summer semester 2020. Through tutorials, presentations and link collections, all relevant information for student orientation and support will also be available for download:

In addition, the International Office will supplement the information portfolio on the website with a new component: contact people from local service and support offices introduce themselves in short video clips and provide information on their service portfolio as well as impressions of the city and campus, even for those who cannot yet be on site. The available presentations are from the Immigration Office (Ausländerbehörde), University Career Services, Göttingen Host Friends (Göttinger Gastfreunde e.V.), the Teaching and Learning Complaint Management, the Intercultural LearningLab (IKL), the International WritingLab (ISL), the Catholic University Community (KHG), the German as a Foreign Language Department, the Göttingen State and University Library (SUB), the Central Student Advisory Service (ZSB) and the International Office, as well as others.
