New Staff at the International Office: Steven Sechrist
In November 2019, Steve Sechrist joined the International Relations Team at Göttingen International as a Study Abroad Advisor. He is responsible for advising and administering the university’s tuition exchange programs in regions of North and South America, Australia, South Africa, and Japan.
Prior to moving with his wife and three sons to Germany in July 2019, Steve directed the Office of International Students, Scholars, and Programs at the College of William & Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia, USA. During his 15-year tenure at William & Mary, he led a team of staff and faculty that supported the international community at the college. His areas of responsibility encompassed immigration services, programs and advocacy, scholarships and donor engagement, communications, and English language programs.
Steve holds an MS in Higher Education Administration from Indiana University and a BA in East European Language and Literature from the University at Buffalo. In 1998 he spent the summer semester as a visiting student at the University of Göttingen! Prior to entering the field of higher education, Steve served as an immigration officer for the US government in Montreal, Canada. Aside from his passion for international education, Steve is an avid outdoorsman and enjoys painting.
