New Staff at the International Office: Sarah Kreckel

SarahSarah Kreckel joined the staff of the Welcome Centre in August 2019. Her tasks include providing support to guest researchers at various Campus Institutes as well as to cohorts of foreign nurses working at the University Medical Centre. She assists these newcomers with visa applications and other bureaucratic hurdles in addition to all non-academic matters related to living in Göttingen.

Sarah earned her Master’s in Education from Harvard University and her Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology and African Studies from Princeton University. She was a middle school teacher in the United States for many years, and also taught for short periods in Kenya and Australia. Later, as a research associate at Brown University’s Watson Institute for International Studies, she researched and wrote curricular materials (readings and classroom activities) for high school students on world history and U.S. foreign policy and conducted teacher training seminars across the United States.

In 2016 Sarah moved with her German husband and their kids to Göttingen, where she enjoys the outdoor lifestyle, travelling in Europe, and, thanks to the trusty dual-voltage sewing machine she has owned for about 10 years, starting and often finishing sewing projects.
