Welcome Centre Göttingen Campus and Southern Lower Saxony Region: Project Officially Started

On April 20, Lower Saxony Minister for Economics, Labour and Transport, Olaf Lies, presented University President Prof. Dr. Ulrike Beisiegel and Vice-President for International Affairs Prof. Dr. Hiltraud Casper-Hehne with the official grant letter for the establishment of the future „Welcome Centre for the Göttingen Campus and the Region of Southern Lower Saxony“.

Collaborating with over 40 partners from other universities, commercial enterprises, associations and municipalities, the University of Göttingen and the Southern Lower Saxony Foundation (SüdniedersachsenStiftung) will enhance and improve the services provided to incoming professionals and scholars. The future „Welcome Centre for the Region“ is meant to foster a strong welcoming culture in Southern Lower Saxony and to help win the hearts of leading professionals and scholars for the region.

The federal state of Lower Saxony supports the project with a grant of 350,000 EUR from the European Social Fund. Additional funds of 600,000 EUR are contributed by partners of the regional network.

The Welcome Centre Campus & Region will open its doors to the public in 2019.
