International Symposium on the Transformation of Agri-Food Systems Takes in Göttingen

For the third time already, the research training group „GlobalFood“, based at the University of Göttingen, is inviting international researchers to discuss topics of changing agricultural and food markets. Main drivers of this transformation are the vertical integration of global supply chains, an increased demand for environmental, social and quality standards, as well as changing consumer preferences. The GlobalFood Symposium will take place from 28 to 29 April at the Paulinerkirche in Göttingen. The goal of the Symposium is to evaluate and discuss challenges and possible solutions for ensuring global food security and sustainable livelihoods for producers in developing countries.

Confirmed speakers include Jenny Aker (USA), Kym Anderson (Australia), Jill McCluskey (USA), Marie Ruel (USA), Tom Reardon (USA), Jo Swinnen (Belgium), and Maximo Torero (USA).

We invite submissions of papers and posters from all researchers working on topics of supply chain management, food standards and trade, sustainability certification, contract farming, linking smallholder farmers to markets, food security and poverty, supermarkets, consumer preferences, nutrition transition, or obesity, among others. All submissions should be in the form of extended abstracts (two pages) to be submitted via the GlobalFood website. The submission deadline is 15 November 2016.
