Foyer International

“It is a great place to meet interesting people from all over the world” Elif, Turkey

International cooking evenings, film nights, language workshops, theater and much more – the Foyer Internationals of the University of Göttingen offers various workshops for students.  It was established in 1957 as a new site for relations between foreign and German students.  With its workshop and event program, it has been a meeting place for students from all over the world for 65 years now. The aim of the workshops, which take place regularly, is to promote active common action by the participants and thus enhance the social interaction of the students. Five workshops are currently being offered:

  • Typical German!? An offer that conveys knowledge about Germany in a fun and playful way. In a convivial atmosphere, knowledge of German can be tried out and stereotypes can be reviewed; not only valuable for international students. German students are more than welcome.
  • Theater: A free space to try things out, get to know yourself and others, and take a break from everyday student life.
  • Korea: An intensive workshop that provides a lot of knowledge about Korean history and culture.
  • Sustainability: An offer based around the UN Development Goals with plenty of room for exchange and becoming active yourself, e.g. with care assignments or vegan cooking
  • RISE: A drop in workshop that aims to help students connect with others and find ways to de-stress in a healthy way.

“Each appointment was a discovery, and I am very glad that I had this opportunity.” Santiago from Argentina

All offers are free and can be joined at any time during the semester. If you do not want to miss any workshops in the future, make sure to follow Foyer International on Instagram and Facebook.
